This Balvenie 12 year old is a brilliant Whisky for those that need something smooth. It is sweet on the nose and palate with notes of Honey and Cinnamon. You can taste a layer of sherry on the second sip from the Sherry casks the 2nd ageing takes place in. It has s very pleasant lengthy, warming presence.

Fantastic whisky never tried this before very smooth and will definitely make another purchase._x000D_

First time Balvenie. Had really high expectations but unfortunately double wood didn't live up to them._x000D_
First try without water:_x000D_
Nose: Alcohol kicks right in and it is overwhelming. Intense aromas of straw and dry leaves, some caramel, butterscotch and peach._x000D_
Mouth: Better than the nose. Alcohol feels smoother but still quite intense. Strong taste of oak and vanilla, gives way to straw and finishes with caramel in the aftertaste._x000D_
Second try with some drops of water...

Such a lovely drink. This single malt is a very easy sipper, and it does go down easy. Very light on smoke, this one is more of a fruity and sweet experience, with just enough feel to keep it interesting. I dont always reach for this bottle, but it's a wonderful experience when I do.

It's nice to branch out on what you drink so I thought I'd give this a try for a change of pace. It's a decent whisky with a sweet, almost citrussy crispness. Normally I go for smokier, heavier options but this was an excellent choice for sipping on a hot summer evening that also works nicely in an Old-Fashioned.

A smooth and elegant single malt. Tasted neat, the delicate sweetness come through, with added complex flavour notes which linger pleasingly on the palate. This whiskey would make a great addition to any collection!

I had a chance to try this dram out, this being my uncle's favourite. Drop of water instead of my usual ice. Very smooth going down giving a nice warm feeling. Would definitely buy again. Now my favourite.

All around this a wonderfully balanced whiskey, that is perfect for sipping. This whisky has a sweet vanilla and spicy dried fruit nose. The body is full and warm, with a winter spice fruits. The finish is smooth and sweet.

Although not a regular whisky drinker, I was tempted to try Balvenie by other reviews and the description. It has a pleasant, slightly sherryish, slightly honeyish smell, and is very smooth to drink. The taste is warming, but lingers in a very good way, with notes of heather or woodlands with a very complex layering of flavours. A great introduction to smooth single malts for the uninitiated I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this.
