Warm the bowl with hot water to preheat and remove any residual odour, then discard the water. 2. Use the bamboo spoon to add 1 level scoop of matcha powder, sprinkling it evenly across the bottom of the bowl. 3. Gently pour 60–70 ml of hot water at 70–80°C along the inner wall of the bowl, avoiding a direct impact on the powder to reduce clumping. 4. Hold the whisk at about a 45° angle. Start by whisking vertically to break up any lumps, then whisk rapidly in a fast “M” or “Z” motion for 30–60 seconds until a thick, velvety foam forms on the surface. Slightly tilt to around 30° later in the process to increase foam density.
