The printer is now fully operational thanks to the replacement print head. The old print head clogged up and the printer skipped lines.

I purchased this about a month ago and the printer works like new again.

The directions received with the print head were not enough. However, the directions gotten on the HP site address was sufficient. Printer functioning well now. The cost of the print head for the Model Officejet 8500 Pro was better than a new printer.

I exhausted all diagnostic and maintenance routines to get my printer to print black, including replacing the black ink cartridge several times. Printhead alignment routine, in particular, failed repeatedly. Finally I purchased from HP Online Sales a new 940 Black/Yellow Printhead along with 940XL Ink Cartridges for all colors. Replacing the B/Y Printhead solved ALL the problems!

After 3 years of heavy printer use (Officejet Pro 8500), the color printouts had a faded look, page after page, but the black and white text was fine. This printerhead (and its related Cyan and Magenta printerhead) was exactly what needed to be replaced. Beautiful color printouts again!

Our HP 8400 Plus Officejet's black printing was skipping after about 20 months in service. New black ink cartridges didn't solve it. This new printhead was what was needed and the printer is back at work. It was easy to install once I figured out where it was located.

I just installed this printhead about 1.5 weeks ago, and it is already gone into the yellow zone from green. i've only printed 38 pages. i also now have ink seeping out the bottom of the printer. My printer was telling me that I needed a printhead. We are 45 minutes away from a town that carries it, so I ordered it on line. Black and Yellow Printhead was over 3 years old in HP Printer and was replaced with a new one. It worked correctly immediately and solved the issue of printing only "magenta" colored text and 'missing colors' on pictures to full black text and full color pictures. Was easy to install into the Printhead Carriage and continues to work well with no issues noted. As advertised on Package it came in..." Precise, Reliable, Every time".
