CALPROTECTIN’ ALERT is a specific immunodiagnostic test for the detection of calprotectin in faeces when its concentration exceeds 50 µg of calprotectin per gram of faeces. Calprotectin is the main protein contained in neutrophils – cells that appear at the site of inflammation. An increased level of calprotectin in the faeces indicates intestinal inflammation. The CALPROTECTIN’ ALERT is a first-line test when the following are heated: inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Crohn’s disease (CD), ulcerative colitis (CU) or colorectal cancer. The calprotectin test allows you to distinguish irritable bowel syndrome from inflammatory bowel diseases, so invasive colonoscopy can be avoided.
