The SUPERPURE 20 inch Simline Activated Carbon Block CTO Water Filter (3-Pack) is a handy pack of carbon block filters designed specifically for your Slimline Filter systems. Ideal for "point-of-use" water filters (under sink/ under counter, countertop systems) where fine filtration is crucial. Carbon Block Filters are made from finely ground activated carbon particles that are bonded together and formed into a solid block under high pressure. They have a uniform structure that's density can vary depending on the manufacturing process. Due to their dense structure, they generally have a slower flow rate but provide more comprehensive contact time, allowing for better contaminant removal. The tight filtration structure also enables the removal of smaller particles and impurities due to the fine micron rating. Active Carbon is carbon that has been treated with oxygen to make it porous, but it has also been broken up into granules to further increase the surface area for chemical bondage to occur. The water passes through the GAC filter, allowing the organic materials and chlorine to effectively bond with the carbon molecules, thus removing these from the water.
