The SUPERPURE 20 inch Replacement Big Blue Filter - Basic (Set of 3) is a replacement Filter Set for 3-stage 20 inch size Big Blue Filter. Best suited for Rain Water Filtration. This Basic Set includes a 1 micron sediment filter to remove the most minute of particles, sediment, dirt, semi-solids and other fine particles in your water as well as a 5 micron sediment filter to remove larger particles, dirt and sediment in order to reduce the sediment build up in your other filters and features an Activated Carbon Block filter to remove harmful compounds (such as chlorine and other disinfectants) and improve taste and odor. This comprehensive filter pack includes multiple stages of sediment filtration to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of your water purification system as well as a carbon filter to remove harmful organic compounds, unwanted chemicals and improve your water's taste and odor. Carbon Block Filters are made from finely ground activated carbon particles that are bonded together and formed into a solid block under high pressure. They have a uniform structure that's density can vary depending on the manufacturing process. Due to their dense structure, they generally have a slower flow rate but provide more comprehensive contact time, allowing for better contaminant removal. The tight filtration structure also enables the removal of smaller particles and impurities due to the fine micron rating. Carbon is effective at removing chlorine and chloramines, which are often added as disinfectants during the water treatment process, GAC effectively adsorbs these disinfectants, reducing their concentration in (often municipal sourced) treated water and improving its overall taste and odor for your enjoyment and consumption. The 5 micron polypropylene (PP) filter serves to remove visible dirt particles such as mud, rust, and sand from the water and the 1 micron polypropylene (PP) filter enables you to filter out the finest of particles in your water possible. A Melted-spray filter cartridge has a multi-layer structure and is self-bonded, thus not making use of a chemical binder.
